Combining a rail outing with a road return can make a varied day, but the two parts need separate confirmation. Start by choosing the train journey that actually runs on your date. Then decide where you want the car to collect you and what you intend to do between leaving the train and boarding the vehicle. The scenic idea alone is not a complete itinerary.

Check the train product rather than a photograph

RhB publishes information about its historical train between Davos and Filisur. Seasonal operation and the advertised composition must be checked for the actual date; an attractive photograph does not promise that a particular locomotive or carriage will be available. Use the current timetable and ticket information when planning. Keep the rail booking separate from the taxi request so it is clear which provider handles a train change and which handles the road journey.

Choose whether collection is at the station or later

If you want to leave directly from Filisur station, state that. If you plan a meal or a village visit first, book the later address instead. RhB's Filisur station page provides the station's own details, but it cannot define the endpoint of your independent outing. Do not ask the car to wait while you decide what to do unless waiting has been discussed and confirmed. A simple return collection needs a specific place and time.

Keep the travelling party’s belongings practical

Bring what you can manage during the rail part and the time before collection. If you are carrying larger bags, check storage arrangements directly rather than assuming a station has a facility that suits them. Declare the luggage to dispatch when choosing the car. If some members return by train and others by road, allocate shared bags before separating. The road passenger count and load should reflect the actual returning party, not everyone who started the excursion.

Handle a changed rail arrival as an amendment

If your train is delayed or the itinerary changes, send dispatch the new information with the booking reference. Ask for the revised collection to be accepted. Avoid replacing a definite location with a vague request to meet you somewhere along the railway. A car cannot automatically follow every change in a rail excursion, and the driver may have other commitments. Clear information gives the team the best chance to assess an alternative that works.

Finish the outing at the agreed meeting point

Gather the road passengers and their belongings before reporting readiness. If you have spent time away from the station, return to the confirmed pickup point rather than assuming the driver will locate the group. Confirm your final Davos address and any planned stops before boarding. A well-defined road return complements the rail day; it does not need to reproduce every part of the train journey or become an unplanned tour on the way home.
