Davos guest card and private taxis: what to arrange separately

A guest card can be useful during a Davos or Klosters stay, but it should not be treated as a general payment card for every form of transport.

A guest card can be useful during a Davos or Klosters stay, but it should not be treated as a general payment card for every form of transport. Before deciding how to make a local journey, check the benefits attached to your accommodation and compare them with the private ride you are requesting. The right choice depends on the actual route, people and timing.

Read the benefit that applies to your stay

The official Davos Klosters guest-card information links public-transport benefits to the accommodation and defined travel zones. Check the current terms for your own card instead of relying on another visitor's experience. Ask your accommodation or the relevant operator if the journey you want is unclear. Do not assume that a benefit available from one holiday address applies identically from another, or that every service described as local transport is covered by the same rules.

Keep the private quotation separate

A Davos Taxi quotation is a separate transport arrangement with the operator. Do not deduct a presumed guest-card benefit from it or expect the driver to interpret public-transport ticket conditions. If you are comparing options, compare the full door-to-door journeys: where you start, where you need to finish and what practical connections are involved. A lower ticket cost and a more convenient vehicle arrangement answer different questions; decide which matters for this particular trip.

Consider the whole group’s requirements

Check whether each traveller has the relevant ticket or guest-card entitlement and whether the group is comfortable making the public-transport connection. For a private ride, declare the actual passenger count and belongings so the category can be assessed. Avoid assuming that one option is automatically better for everyone. A party may sensibly divide, provided each person understands their own meeting point and the final address where the group will come together again.

Choose the return using current information

The outward journey may be easy to plan while the return depends on a meal, visit or appointment finishing. Check the return public-transport information for the date rather than looking only at the outward connection. If you choose a private return, make a separate confirmed request. Holding a guest card does not create a standby taxi, and booking an outward taxi does not automatically reserve a later car after an independently managed afternoon.

Avoid paying for arrangements you no longer need

Once you choose a different mode, tell the relevant provider if you have already made a reservation and ask about the applicable change or cancellation terms. Do not leave a car booking active because you assume an unused ride disappears when you take a bus or train. Keep confirmations and ticket information in one place. A clear decision protects your budget and makes it obvious which transport arrangement the travelling party is actually relying on.

Questions about this journey

Does my guest card pay for a private Davos Taxi ride?

Do not assume that. A private ride has its own quotation and payment arrangement.

Are guest-card transport benefits identical for every address?

Check the official terms for your accommodation and the relevant zones.

Can I use public transport out and a taxi back?

Yes, arrange each part separately and obtain confirmation of the private return.
