The word bike can describe very different loads: a complete mountain bike, a folding bicycle, a dismantled frame in a case or an empty transport box. Those items are not interchangeable when a vehicle is chosen. For a road journey during your Davos stay, provide the actual form in which each bicycle will travel and let the transport team assess the arrangement before confirming it.
Identify the complete load
Count bicycles and riders separately. Add helmets, protective equipment, tools and ordinary bags, then state which items belong to rentals and which to the travellers. For a bicycle case, give external dimensions. For an assembled cycle, describe its type and size and provide further measurements if requested. Do not assume the vehicle pictured on a website has a rack, trailer or interior arrangement suitable for bikes; the actual carriage method must be agreed.
Separate mountain transport from road transport
The mountain operator publishes its own bike-transport options and conditions. Those apply to its services, not automatically to a private car. Check the current rules for every stage of the day and confirm whether a particular bike or equipment combination is accepted. A mountain pass including cycle carriage does not include your taxi journey. Keep the road booking, mountain ticket and any rental agreement distinguishable in the organiser’s itinerary.
Plan the beginning and end of the ride
Give dispatch a named road pickup and destination rather than a trail name alone. If the activity finishes elsewhere, confirm the final road endpoint and who will contact the transport team. The riding group should make its own activity decisions using appropriate current information. A prearranged car is not a guarantee of access to a trail, forest track or mountain point, and it should not be relied upon as an emergency recovery service.
Agree preparation and handling
Ask the transport team what preparation is required for the agreed arrangement and follow the bike or case manufacturer’s instructions where relevant. Do not begin dismantling equipment based on assumptions about the vehicle. Explain any fragile components and whether the group can manage its own packing. If a rental bike is involved, confirm permitted transport and return arrangements with the supplier, including any need to visit a different address after the ride.
Update changes before the car is allocated
An extra rider, a larger bike or a decision to travel with assembled cycles instead of boxes can materially change the request. Send the revised details as soon as they are known and ask for the vehicle and price to be reconfirmed. At collection, bring the agreed items together and check them against the booking. At unloading, count accessories as well as bicycles so that the small equipment does not disappear between handovers.
